He has taught Fluid Mechanics in the Engineering and Architecture School of UZ since 1998. He has participated in several European research projects and is author of more than ten papers in international research journals. He regularly attends congresses and workshops and has stayed in different foreign universities. Since 2007 he is the head of an online postgraduate degree on piping in Spanish for graduate engineers. He has participated in several research projects funded by the European Union and is the author of a number of research papers published in prestigious international journals. He has also participated international conferences and has stayed in foreign research centers.

More than 18 years of experience in Turbomachinery world as specialist. He has started his career at PDVSA and Exxon Mobil as Machinery Engineer at field for specification,troubleshhoting and reliability subjects on rotating equipment. Since 2005 has been working in INITEC TECNICAS REUNIDAS Group as Turbomachinery Specialist. He has participated in several project for Upstream business where several Turbomachinery has been applied for different process. In 2012 has been named as Head of Rotating Equipment Section, taken functions of advisor and coordination inside the group.

Bagues Vicente, Fernando

Business Development Manager & International Project Sales Manager – EagleBurgmann Ibérica (MS Division)

Fernando has more than 12 years on International Projects in the Oil&Gas and Power Industries, mainly dedicated as Head of Business Development for Engineered Equipment, as Mechanical Seals, Supply Systems, Lube Oil Systems, and other types of Auxiliary Equipment including activities of designing and procurement. Currently working as BDM & IP Sales Manager, dealing with the major international projects with the Spanish EPCs, covering the activities of customer support sales, and sealing technology consultant, as member of EagleBurgmann EMEA - IP Group, and managing new business strategies for EagleBurgmann Iberica, for Spain and Portugal region. His expertize knowledge are API and ASME standards, and customized project specifications and standards by end-users, commonly required on International Projects (Aramco, Repsol, Shell, ADCO, etc). Fernando is IT Engineer, as well as Upgrading on Sales Management.

Fernandez Valdés, César

Rotating Machinery Manager at Repsol

His group is responsible for the specification, selection testing, installation, commissioning and start-up of all the rotating equipment for REPSOL investment projects in refineries, chemical and gas plants, pipelines and upstream production facilities. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting rotating machinery, the promotion of new technologies throughout the company, reliability engineering, and writing company machinery standards. Prior to joining REPSOL in 1998, Mr Fernández worked for 6 years at FLUOR as a rotating machinery engineer in several projects for DuPont, ICI and UCC. Mr. Fernández holds a M.S. degree (Mechanical Engineering) from the University of Oviedo, Spain. He is a member of the API Sub-committee of Mechanical Equipment, and Chairman of the ISO TC118 SC1 (Process compressors); he is past-member of the Advisory Committee for the Pump Symposium organized by the Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA. He is a member of Spanish technical committees for machinery and ATEX (hazardous areas) for non-electrical equipment.

González Otero, Sara

Instrumentation and Control Engineer at Tecnicas Reunidas group

Sara has more than 10 years of international career in Técnicas Reunidas Group, for Oil & Gas projects, as an Engineer and Leader Engineer in Instrumentation and Control. She has been working in EPC projects for upstream (gas compression plants, LNG, NG liquid separation) as well as for downstream industry. Currently she is working as I&C Leader in feed engineering as well as in technical and economical proposals for EPC projects. She has attended factory acceptance tests (FAT) of plant control systems (DCS, ESD) and compressors PLCs. Also, she has given support on site during pre-commissioning and commissioning of the control systems. Sara has a Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering by University Complutense of Madrid as well as a Master’s degree in Physics. Besides, she has studied a Master in Instrumentation and Process Control (by ISA and Repsol Training Center), and she is certified as Functional Safety Professional by TÜV SÜD.

Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Stanford University, 1995. MEC/Fulbright scholar 1989-1994. B.E.-M.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering School, University of Zaragoza, 1989. After completing his Ph.D., he joined the Faculty of the Engineering and Architecture School of the University of Zaragoza. Research interests include computational mechanics, finite element methods and a posteriori error estimation for fluid flow. Collaboration with industry centers about design and optimization of turbomachinery and renewable energy.

Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (University of Virginia, 2003). Dr. He received his B.S. degree (Chemical Machinery Engineering, 1994) from Sichuan University in China. From 1996 to 2003, he conducted research on fluid film journal bearings in the ROMAC Laboratories at the University of Virginia. As a machinery consultant, his current responsibilities include vibration troubleshooting, rotordynamic analysis, as well as bearing and seal analysis and design. He is also conducting research on rotordynamics and hydrodynamic bearings. Dr. He has taught many short courses on fluid film bearings and rotordynamics in the past 15 years.

Maceyka, Thomas

Senior Technical Specialist (Weir Specialty Pumps)

He has over thirty five years of rotating equipment experience focused on centrifugal pumps and compressors. He has participated on API 617 (Centrifugal Compressors) and API 682 (Seals) Task Forces, and is a current member of the API 610 (Centrifugal Pumps) 12th Edition Task Force. During his career, he has held positions in Engineering, Product Management, and Product Development with increasing levels of responsibility. Currently, Mr. Maceyka is a Senior Technical Specialist with Weir Specialty Pumps, and working with end users to improve plant reliability by educating them on Pitot Tube pump technology for low-flow high-head services.

Pérez Ansón, M. Angeles

She was a post-doctoral fellow at the Trinity Centre of Bioengineering (Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland) and at the Ecole de Technologie Superieure of the University of Quebec (Montreal, Canada. She is a member of the I3A (Aragon Institute of Engineering Research). Her present research mainly focuses on computational mechanics, non-linear finite element methods, and multiscale analyses with applications on the Industrial, Biomechanics and Mechanobiology fields. Her teaching expertise covers Structural Mechanics, Fatigue of materials and Design of Prosthesis and Implants.

Beatriz holds 10 years of experience in the area of Rotating Equipment at INITEC TECNICAS REUNIDAS. After building upon her experience as Rotating Equipment specialist, she is now a Rotating Lead Engineer and currently manages a $13B EPC project for upstream. Beatriz has solid expertise in management as Rotating Equipment Engineer by coordinating and supervising activities such as preparation of rotating equipment, tender inquiries, corresponding Technical Requisitions and Purchase Order Requisitions, elaboration of complete Technical Bids Analysis, providing Technical support in meetings with the Client and the supplier, solving technical deviations from the Purchase Order to the delivery, and checking, reviewing and approval of vendor’s documents. She has also field experience in precomissioning and commissioning activities for rotating equipment which include equipment alignment, pre start up and start up activities, equipment condition monitoring and site acceptance test

Vázquez, José Antonio

PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (University of Virginia, 1999). Expertise include vibration analysis, machinery troubleshooting, field measurements and machinery health monitoring, experimental modal analysis, rotor dynamics, bearing analysis and development of customized machinery analysis tools. Before joining BRG, Dr. Vazquez, worked for DuPont for 10 years at their central engineering department in Wilmington, Delaware, providing machinery field support services for DuPont's plants all around the world. Before DuPont, he worked at the Rotating Machinery and Controls Laboratory (ROMAC) at the University of Virginia for 9 years, first as a graduate student, then as lab engineer and finally as a Research Scientist. Teaching experience includes teaching courses in kinematics, vibrations, instrumentation and machine dynamics at the college level and short courses in rotor dynamics, fluid film bearings, instrumentation and experimental modal analysis for engineers in industry. Dr. Vazquez is the author of several research papers, presented at engineering conferences and published in international journals. B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineer from the Universidad Simon Bolivar, Caracas, Venezuela and also holds a Master’s degree on Reliability and Maintainability Engineering from the University of Exeter, U.K. He is also a honorary fellow at the MIRCE Akademy (Reliability related Research and Education), U.K. During the last two decades, has been charge of projects development for the oil and gas industry and overseeing engineering and construction activities for projects around the world. Has worked as Design Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Manager, Plant Engineering Team Lead, Engineering Manager and more recently as Global Engineering Advisor. Areas of expertise include reliability and maintainability engineering, projects execution, basic and detailed engineering development, procurement and construction. Experience in projects design basis development, selection and use of project design standards, major equipment purchase, overseeing contractor engineering deliverables, risk assessments, and in leading project engineering disciplines (mechanical, process, electrical, instrumentation & control, and civil).
